This course is designed for science students developing their research skills working on research projects for a principal investigator; specifically this course will improve the students’ writing ability and introduce them to writing for the scientific community.

The course involves not only learning to write an abstract and literature review but also understanding the protocols for writing a scientific paper based on lab or field data. In addition, students will prepare a power point presentation on their research to present at a meeting or conference such as the Maine Biological Science Symposium or the annual INBRE meeting.

In addition to working with the instructor, students will work on the content of their writing with the principal investigator. Offered every other year.
