Children's Literature by Celebrated Maine Authors and Illustrators - A Celebration of a Sense of Place

Syllabus
This course is truly a celebration of books! Come prepared to read, explore, and have fun learning!

Course Goals:
1. to read a wide selection of children's literature by Maine authors and illustrators
2. to visit locations that resonate in Maine children's literature
3. to meet authors and illustrators
4. to create a portfolio of unit ideas for use in your own classroom

Field Trips:
We will travel to a variety of sites, including, but not limited to, museums, bookstores, libraries, harbors and towns where authors resided, and Acadia National Park. Each place we visit will tie into what we are reading and into our exploration of books that impart a real flavor of Maine.
