The Champlain Society
The Champlain Society (TCS) is College of the Atlantic's highest level giving society. TCS was created in 1988 to give appropriate recognition to those special friends who contribute $1,500 or more to the Annual Fund. The importance of annual giving at this level is critical to the stability and ongoing operations of the school—to advance the college’s mission, with academic excellence, to provide financial aid where needed, and support for maintenance and stewardship of the campus.
In appreciation for the support of its members and to introduce new friends to the COA community, the Champlain Society hosts a variety of events designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity, enhance opportunities for cultural engagement and complement Mount Desert Island’s celebrated social environment.
The Annual Champlain Society membership year begins on July 1 and runs through the fiscal year's end on June 30. Memberships are welcome anytime of the year and special solicitation appeals are made in the fall and in the spring with the summer calendar of special events.
The Quarter Century Club
The Quarter Century Club (QCC) is a giving club designed specifically for COA Alumni. For the price of a pizza and movie, you can join the Quarter Century Club.
Here's how it works: You pledge to give $25 a year for 25 years. How simple is that?
The Northern Lights Society
The Northern Lights Society is an association for individuals who have made planned gifts to benefit COA. These gifts include bequests, charitable gift annuities, and gifts of life insurance, to name a few.

Black Fly Society
Honoring COA’s mascot, The Black Fly Society was established to make donating easier and greener. We hope you’ll join this swarm of sustaining donors by setting up a monthly online gift. It’s the paperless way to give to COA. Link to our secure online site and under gift frequency select "monthly."
Alumni Leadership Circle
Alumni gifts are critical to the college. The Alumni Leadership Circle honors the generosity and philanthropic leadership of alumni who give $500 or more to the annual fund. In addition to ensuring that current students can experience the excellence of a COA education, donors at this level will be invited to a gathering with the president during alumni weekend and will receive an alumni baseball cap.
