Hired in 1993, Gordon Longsworth, COA 90’, and the PENN Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning, 92’, was a lead student in the establishment of the lab. At the University of Pennsylvania, he studied under environmental pioneer Ian McHarg and GIS pioneers, Dr. Jon Radke, and Dr. C. Dana Tomlin.
The GIS Lab is a dedicated workspace located in the Center for Human Ecology on the north end of campus. The lab has 11 DELL Optiplex 7090 workstations each with a full range of GIS and support software.
The college has an ESRI University Site License which provides access to a full range of industry-standard software, training, and data. This level of licensing ensures that students are experienced in the most current technology, data, and methods.
