COA & Acadia National Park

College of the Atlantic & Acadia National Park
COA students and alumni have worked with Acadia National Park (ANP) on several collaborative projects, including invasive species control, peregrine falcon monitoring, visitor interpretation, re-vegetation, bald eagle nest monitoring… the list goes on.
Here are some other examples of COA/ANP Collaborations:
- Joint curation of Acadia Herbarium with the National Park System (NPS)
- Two COA alumni co-authored The Plants of Acadia National Park
- Active collaboration in GIS, developing/sharing data layers
- Acadia Fellows Program places students in projects in ANP
- COA has hosted Coastal Ecosystem Studies Unit meetings
- Collaborative studies of water quality in North East Creek watershed
- Multiple COA alumni are employed by NPS in both seasonal and long-term positions
- Developed guidelines for monitoring ANP island nesting seabird populations
- On-going study of impact of sea-level rise on ANP islands
- On-going study of salamander populations in ANP
